The third stop on the itinerant exhibition The Lace Review, which brings together the last 14 Leavers lace factories still in operation in Calais and Caudry, takes place on 16 and 17 July 2019 during the Première Vision exhibition in New York.
The Lace Review exposes to the public the technical specificities that make the richness and uniqueness of this essential material in the fields of fashion and lingerie. A true cultural exception, Leavers lace weaving technique combines elegance, engineering and creativity. The City of Calais and Made in Town will present an unpublished book that reveals the unique gestures, crafts and know-how of this luxury lace.
Rome, capital of 21st century craftmanship? From the moment Silvia Venturini Fendi was appointed chairman of AltaRoma, in March 2010, both Rome and fashion have found a precious defender for the contemporary craftsmanship values. From July 2010, the Fendi family heiress decided to promote LIMITED / UNLIMITED, an exhibition that has now become a biannual encounter between creation and know-hows.
Made in Town presents Inventaire (inventer + faire), a selection of products reflecting the particular know-how of ateliers all around the world.
In order to promote the know-how and characteristics of the tapestry from Aubusson, the county town of the French region of Creuse, Made in Town conducted a series of three documentary videos at the request of the International City of the Tapestry and Woven art, in partnership with l’Institut français de la mode and with the support of the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès.
